Curriculum
At Purple Willows Day Nursery, we prepare your child for primary school through games and play following the Government's statutory framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. Our overall aim is to provide a curriculum-rich environment to develop every area of a child's life; social, emotional, physical and academic. Our objective is to provide a curriculum that is designed to underpin and achieve our mission.
Literacy
Involves children discovering phonemic awareness – the ability to hear and identify different words and sounds, and also to start reading and writing.
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Involves helping children to explore their social skills and build self-awareness, relationships, and develops respect and an understanding of their different feelings.
Communication & Language
Involves encouraging children to develop their language and communication skills. by providing them an environment to express themselves and speak and listen in a range of situations
Physical Development
Involves providing opportunities for children to be active and interactive; and to understand the the importance of healthy food choices.
Expressive Arts & Design
Involves providing opportunities for children and express themselves and learn new activities such as .role-play, drawing, playing with paint, instruments, and design and technology.
Mathematics
Involves providing guidance for children in developing skills with numbers and calculations; and being able to describe shapes, spaces, and measures.
Understanding the World
Involves children making sense of their physical world and communities by exploring and observing everything from their environment to the technology.
