Here's an overview of our curriculum

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Our curriculum is based on the EYFS framework, which sets standards for the learning, development, and care of children from birth to five years old.

Our curriculum encompasses seven key areas of learning and development. Communication and Language: We provide activities and experiences that promote children's language development, communication skills, and interaction with others. Physical Development: Our curriculum includes opportunities for children to develop their physical skills, coordination, and movement through both indoor and outdoor activities. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: We focus on supporting children's emotional well-being, self-confidence, and relationships with others, fostering positive social interactions and a sense of belonging. Literacy: Children are encouraged to explore and enjoy books, develop early reading skills, and express themselves through writing and storytelling activities. Mathematics: We provide experiences that help children develop mathematical concepts, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of numbers, shapes, and patterns. Understanding the World: Our curriculum includes activities that enable children to explore the world around them, learn about different cultures, communities, and environments, and develop an understanding of technology and the natural world. Expressive Arts and Design: We offer opportunities for children to express themselves creatively through art, music, movement, and imaginative play, fostering their creativity and self-expression. By focusing on these seven areas of learning and development, our curriculum at Purple Willows Day Nursery provides a holistic and enriching educational experience that prepares children for future learning and success.

Child-Centered Approach

Our curriculum is tailored to meet the unique needs, interests, and abilities of each child. We observe and assess children's progress regularly, using this information to plan individualized learning experiences that scaffold their development.

Play-Based Learning

We believe in the power of play as a vehicle for learning and development. Our curriculum incorporates play-based activities that are child-led and adult-supported, allowing children to explore, experiment, and make sense of the world around them.

Holistic Development

We focus on fostering children's holistic development, addressing their cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and creative needs. Our activities and experiences are designed to promote well-rounded growth across all areas of development.

Outdoor Learning

We recognize the importance of outdoor play and learning for children's health, well-being, and development. Our curriculum includes regular outdoor activities and experiences encouraging exploration, physical activity, and connection with nature.

Specialist Activities

In addition to core curriculum areas, we offer specialist activities such as music, art, sensory play, and forest school sessions. These activities enrich children's experiences, stimulate their creativity, and support their development in specific areas.

Partnership with Parents

We believe in the importance of strong partnerships between parents and practitioners. We actively involve parents in their child's learning journey, communicating regularly, sharing observations and progress reports, and inviting parents to participate in nursery activities and events.
